Stoneyford 10km Challenge:

The Stoneyford 10km Challenge is a 10 kilometer road race/event. It should appeal to all, both young and old, from the seriously competitive athlete to the casual jogger, the dedicated walker or carefree stroller.  The Third run of the Stoneyford 10km Challenge will take place on Sunday, 20th. May 2012.

This is an initiative of the Stoneyford Parents Association and was born out of a need to raise money for  Scoil Náisiúnta Chiaráin Naofa, our local primary school. In this difficult and restrictive budgetary climate we find ourselves , parents and teachers are having to find varied ways to raise funds for necessary and innovative school projects.

The entry fee is €20 for Runners;  €10 for Walkers and €60 Athletic Club Team (4 per team). You can enter via the entry form on this site or register online at www.runireland.com

All race proceeds will go to Scoil Náisiúnta Chiaráin Naofa. This year many charities and clubs are using the event as a sponsored run/walk to raise money for their own cause. See the charity/club page for the list of registered organisations.    There is an overall cash prize fund of €1,000.00. The first male and female over the finish line will receive €250 each; there will be €150 each for the second male and female the third male and female will receive €100 each.  For those of us less competitive, there is no need to worry as there will be numerous spot prizes and age category prizes. Goodie bags and refreshments will also be available to all finishers.

Japanese Tsunami Commemoration

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Saturday 10 March 2012 4:33 pm

Already it’s been a year since March 11th, the day of the Tsunami in Japan. As a gesture of Solidarity we are planting a Cherry Blossom tree in the Village Green Stoneyford (Beside Doctors Surgery) to commemorate Japanese Tsunami Disaster victims. If you care to join us, the planting will take place next Sunday at about 5.30pm. Spread the word especially if you know any Japanese people as it would be nice to send a photo of some Japanese in among the solidarity group back to Japan. Don’t worry – It’s Free! Just turn up if you can.
